The Southern African Institute for Business Accountants (SAIBA) is a professional Accountancy Body in Southern Africa, it provide its members with prestige accounting designations in commerce and practice and allow them an opportunity to practice as Accounting Officers and Independent Reviewers in terms of the Close Corporations Act and the Companies Act of South Africa. The Institute was also granted a license in terms of the Namibian Close Corporations Act to approve accounting Officers. SAIBA has a memorandum of understanding with SAIT which allows SAIBA members that have obtained to the BAP(SA) designation to act as tax practitioners. As SAIBA did not opt to register as a controlling of Tax Practitioners with SARS. SAIBA also has and agreement with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) to make easy for SAIBA members to join CIMA and obtain CGMA designation and also making it easy for CIMA members to obtain SAIBA designations. The organization was founded in 1987 under the name "Southern African Institute for Management Accountants". SAIBA provides an opportunity to individuals with a tertiary qualification in accounting or finance with a license to practice as accounting officers and independent reviewers. SAIBA is currently the 3rd largest Accountancy body in South Africa and it is growing very fast currently with more than 6000 members.
